Have you ever had a situation in your life where you were looking frantically for something you thought you had lost, and in the process you found something else that you had looked frantically for in the past? Why does this happen? And why can't you find what you are looking for now?
I believe the main reason you are having a problem finding something when you try to look for it is because, possibly without even realizing it, you're trying to sabotage your efforts? Now you are probably thinking right now as a reply to this is: WHAT!
But think about it. If you keep saying to yourself that you can't find something, even if you are looking straight at it, right in front of you, you won't acknowledge that it is right in front of you because you have told yourself, over and over again, that you can't find it and your mind tends to ignore the item you are looking for.
But how do you explain finding it later, while looking for something else? For one thing you are not saying you can't find it because you aren't looking for it. It could also be that your brain remembers that you were looking for it before and finds it.
So what does that mean in the eternal scheme of things? When we search for a meaning to life and we search for something inspirational in our life, could it be that the reason we can't find the answers is because subconsciously we are so used to thinking we can't find something that certain meanings always elude us?
Proverbs 1:2-5 He wrote them to teach his people how to live-how to act in every circumstance, 3 for he wanted them to be understanding, just and fair in everything they did. 4 "I want to make the simpleminded wise!" he said. "I want to warn young men about some problems they will face. 5 I want those already wise to become the wiser and become leaders by exploring the depths of meaning in these nuggets of truth." TLB
Think about this; what is the one question that you keep asking yourself over and over again lately? Why do you keep asking that question? Why are you focusing on it?
I sometimes wonder if the reason we cannot find the answers we are looking for is because we do not ask ourselves why we want an answer in the first place. If you are constantly asking yourself what the meaning of life is without any specifics, then it might be compared to trying to fly a kite without any wind. We know the kite can fly because we have flown it before. We have enough string, or at least we think we do. Maybe there is not enough string, how about that. But unless we put all the necessary forces and material together we will not accomplish the feat of flying a kite.
So getting back to searching for a meaning to life, we need to find out why this question is so important to us. What are we going to accomplish in our lives for knowing the answer? What kind of enjoyment and enlightenment are we going to get from the answer? Unless you ask these questions and really think about other questions to ask ourselves, the meaning of life will most assuredly elude us more often that we would like to realize.
Daniel 2:19b-23 Then Daniel praised the God of heaven, 20 saying, "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for he alone has all wisdom and all power. 21 World events are under his control. He removes kings and sets others on their thrones. He gives wise men their wisdom and scholars their intelligence. 22 He reveals profound mysteries beyond man's understanding. He knows all hidden things, for he is light, and darkness is no obstacle to him. 23 I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers, for you have given me wisdom and glowing health, and now even this vision of the king's dream and the understanding of what it means." TLB
So, in other words, God has the answers to all of your questions. It is up to you to ask the right questions. Ah! The right questions. Sometimes we get so caught up wanting to ask the questions we immediately want answers to that we don't even realize that asking the questions that God is willing to answer, may give us something far more valuable.
So what are we supposed to ask God for? Well, the only way to know that is to put our focus on Him. Instead of getting self-absorbed and getting nowhere trying to attain a certain status or wanting a place in society beyond our current place, instead look to God for guidance.
I mean why keep going in the same direction if it is not with God? It would be like shooting a bb gun at the caboose of a freight train and expecting the engine to come to a complete stop. Unless you know what God wants for your life, you will be going aimlessly through the deserts of life, looking for a waterhole when there isn't one. Instead look to God. Pray to Him. Ask Him for guidance.
Instead of getting caught up in self-indulgence. Instead of trying to get a higher status through financial gain. Instead of trying to get a better car, look to God more often and seek His guidance as often as possible. Because until you do, you will never find what you are truly looking for.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to find you before I try to find anything else. Give me guidance in this coming week to find the answers that you want to give me. Help me to understand what you want for me in my life. And I thank you for all your many blessings. Amen.
Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen.
Hi, my name is Bryan, a messenger of hope who would love to hear from you. God Bless.
