August 8, 2004 | Link To Us | Index | This sermon is for your spiritual edification and to spread a little hope and cheer. Psalms 32:9-10

Where are you in your walk with the Lord today? Now there is a well worn statement that I have heard in many sermons, and I have probably used that statement many times or a reasonable facsimile thereof in some of the sermons I have written.

So where do we walk? Well there these is the sidewalk where we are on the sidelines as the world passes us by. Or there is the beach where the sand gets thrown backwards and our footprints get washed away with the tide. And what about the grass that we walk on despite the sign that states, "Please stay off the grass."

But seriously, where are you today? Are you at home reading this sermon? Or maybe you printed it out and are reading it in a local park while your kids are running around screaming at the top of their lungs something about which scooter is the best or whether the slide is too hot?

Maybe you are alone at the park. That is not bad and you can give yourself a break and smell the grass and hear, hopefully, a cool breeze that goes through the trees like a seagull in the distance squawking but not loudly to you because the waves crashing against the shore are hiding the noise of this graceful bird.

Maybe you are at home in your bathrobe on a Tuesday morning because you are sick with a cold and you thought reading a good word would relax the soul and make that cough seem many light years away in some uncharted galaxy where the only planets are but gaseous giants awaiting the next volcanic eruption to spew their idea of a cough around the entire planet.

Please excuse that rather long sentence, sometimes I let my imagination run away from me like a cool breeze through the trees so green that they ........

There I go again. Anyway it is like I was saying that when you read a sermon, and I am not just talking about mine, you let God guide you on a Sunday morning to places you may only dream about. This especially happens when you are in a church where the minister goes on and on and the sentences seem to run together and that nap you promised yourself for the afternoon suddenly comes upon you until your wife wakes you up because you are snoring and everybody in the church is looking back at you as if you were the center of attention at a horse auction wishing your new owner doesn't weigh over 300 pounds.

And again. But seriously what are you doing with your life? Are you working in a job you really like? If not you need to re-evaluate your life and pray to God for guidance. Ask God to help you understand what He has in mind for your life. And don't forget He knows all and has all the answers, so a relationship with Him could be the most profitable relationship you ever had. Not just in money, but in peace of mind.

You never know what you've had until you lost it. Then found it again. Although this time it was never lost. It was always there waiting for you to find it again. Let God know you want to communicate with Him to seek His guidance, then you will start to learn where you are in your walk with the Lord.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I know I have never been exceedingly aware of you on a daily basis. I get distracted and I may also lose my way from time to time. Please Lord, at those times enlighten me and let me know You are there, Lord. And I thank you for all your many blessings. Amen.

Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen.

Hi, my name is Bryan, a messenger of hope who would love to hear from you. God Bless.
