When we try to understand our place in the universe we may see ourselves as mere ants that live in a grand-scale ant hill. All the other ants look so much like us and we are all running around trying to make the queen ant happy so she can make sure there are more ants to grace the nest.

So how is that like real life? Who is your queen ant? Is it a society where when you wake up every morning you prepare for the same day over and over again like the ants? Are you constantly looking for food anywhere you can? And when you find it do you tell everybody where it is so that all of you can congregate all around it and take it apart piece-by-piece and transport it back to the nest?

When we get up in the morning, we may have one immediate goal, to get dressed and eat breakfast as quickly as possible. Or maybe you decide sometimes to sleep a little more and so you pick up a croissant on the way to work. Whichever way you do it, your main objective is to do it as fast as possible so that you can get to work early with at least some time to spare.

But what happens when you don't get to work on time? If you do this several times you may have to start looking for another job somewhere else. And this increases your drive to go that extra mile and do it in record time. Get to work earlier than you did before the first time you were late so you can impress and let managers know that you won't be late again and that you can be counted on.

But this still does not explain who your queen ant is. Is your job your queen ant? If it is then you are a devoted person. But what if the queen ant is the list of goals that you want to attain as quickly as possible. You have them all written down and you often look at them to see if you are any closer to attaining any of them. Then you hit a snag. Kind of like ants do when a human sprays some awful smelling stuff on the kitchen sink, cutting off your supply line and making it so you have to find another path where the supply line is still usable.

So then it becomes a journey to find the path of least resistance. A journey to a place where there is nothing blocking your way. So instead of trying to think about an alternative way of living you run around looking for another path within the realm of your own company or even your own department. You do this because you truly feel it is the line of least resistance, not realizing that there may be another nest where there is no resistance at all and the food comes with no human to cut off the supply line.

But where is this place you ask? Is it at the dump where the food is plentiful. Maybe, but then there are the tractors that move the trash into piles or a level area and compacted. So all you have to do is wait a little while and find a place that will no longer be moved and then it is a free-for-all with no pesky human to keep you from your goal, which is to provide for your ever-increasing family.

But your life as the ant isn't in trying to find that dump, it is staying exactly where you are and making the best of your present situation without looking for something else and all because you are afraid to upset the apple cart.

So how do you make the change? How do you find that dump with all the bells and whistles of life for the taking? You find it through a lasting relationship with God. You were probably wondering where God was going to enter into this sermon and here he is in His glory. Here He is in your heart and you may not have really realized it. He is here to give you the kind of life where happiness comes more frequently. And you didn't even have to take a long journey away from your family to find it. You found it right there in your heart. Now how is that for a short journey? The finest morsels of life are there right in your heart as you let God into it more and more in your daily life.

So no more running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to attain every goal with lightning speed, because what you truly need is right there in your heart right now. God is there. He is there to help you understand what you truly want and desire. He is there to offer solace when you need it. He is there to help you find what you are truly looking for in life, and it's not the next juicy morsel, but the idea that you can matter in a world that makes it hard because everybody else is looking for the cloud with the silver-lining like you are.

But is the cloud with the silver-lining what you truly want or are you fooling yourself into believing that what is good for the gander is good for you? You run around like a chicken with it's head cut-off never realizing that what you really want is staring you right in the face, but like an idiot you try to go for the gold at the end of the rainbow when all along the pot is right there for you in your heart. God is that pot of gold. God can be that queen ant. Not the kind of queen ant that hordes all the best for herself, just giving you enough to survive, but the kind of queen ant that gives back more than you give her. That is the way God works. He gives you more than you gives Him. And in a selfish world like the world we live in that is a much sought after situation that we often ignore for the more mundane and what is generally accepted in society.

But what if you decided that enough was enough and you wanted more from your efforts? What if you wanted that cloud with a silver lining, but you want to do it without going with the norm? You want to do it but you haven't got a clue in the world in your own mind? But you can go from a clueless gleeb to a person possessed with the love of God in your heart and with that you will be able to have that feeling like you could conquer the world. Conquer, not in the way of destruction, but in the way of constructing a life for yourself and at the same time make the world a better place for others. And then you become the queen ant, giving to others more and more, not realizing that you are giving them what they truly need. You show them what a life with God in your heart can give them and lead them in their daily lives to attain the happiness that could only be seen in dreams.

So give of your heart every day, with God in your heart, and you will find the treasured morsels of life.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to look for the love that you give me so freely every day, by reminding me that it is as close as in my own heart. Help me to help others so they can know how much love you have to give. Let this next week be a time when I can go to you more freely and readily so that I can see the kind of life I truly desire. A life with you Lord, in my heart, going forward with a zest for life. I thank you for all your many blessings. Amen.

Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen.

Hi, my name is Bryan, a messenger of hope who would love to hear from you. God Bless.
