The Teachings of Christ are our Street Maps

June 13, 2004 | Link To Us | Index | This sermon is for your spiritual edification and to spread a little hope and cheer. Psalm 143

There have been several movies and drama show and comedy show episodes that revolve around one thing, repeating the same day or incident over and over again. Each time they are played out there is a different solution to a problem with different results. It's as if the person reliving the day or events over and over again has to learn something until they get to a point where the events no longer repeat themselves and things get back to normal.

We are all pulled in different directions in our lives and we often wonder what we are destined to do. But is there such a thing as pre-destiny? Maybe God has another plan for us. But we don't know what it is and we live a life of one mistake after another not realizing that there is a solution and that there are certain things that we need to do and events that need to be played out.

This would of course suppose that there is such a thing as pre-destiny. But what if the coincidences in life were Gods way of pulling us in the direction that we need to go? What if life were like a puzzle and each coincidence in our life was a piece? We could try to put the puzzle together.

But why don't we? Is it because we try to make excuses based on our hectic lives where we tell everybody, "where does the time go, anyway." And so in this case we are pre-destining ourselves, so to speak, to repeat a lot of the same mistakes over and over again, not realizing that God may be guiding us in a different direction, if only we would sit up, pay attention and ask God for guidance.

So what do we do? Do we chuck it all and try to figure out another way? That would be one way of doing it, but probably not the best way. The reason is that what we are doing right now may be a stepping stone to the next stepping stone. But yet we need to figure out when we are supposed to get off the stepping stone we are presently on and proceed to the next one.

God has a habit of taking us in different directions. Sometimes the direction He takes us in may not make a whole lot of sense. But in order to sort it all out we need to communicate our feelings with God so that He can open the "airwaves" so to speak and give us the guidance we want and need.

But to start opening communications with Him we need a plan. The plan is pretty much mapped out in the Bible. So it is just a matter of giving ourselves the time to open up a Bible and reading it. "Don't stop and think, Do!" Something I try to tell myself that sometimes. Now if I could only get myself to listen to myself.

Life doesn't have to be difficult, but we often make it that way because we all make mountains out of molehills from time to time. It is at these times that we need to step back and see ourselves and what we are doing and try to come up with an alternative that will point us forward in this game called life.

So don't let another day go by without asking God for help and putting the rat race aside, at least temporarily, so that you can go in a direction that will make your life more rewarding. And not just with money, but with the knowledge that God will point you in the right direction, you just have to give Him a chance.

Prayer: Dear Lord, guide me in this coming week and help me to realize that you are always there for me. Help me to recognize the correct time to put things aside and follow the path that you have mapped out for me. Help me to open the airwaves with you Lord so that I can be happier in my life and more at peace. I thank you for all your many blessings. Amen.

Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen.

Hi, my name is Bryan, a messenger of hope who would love to hear from you. God Bless.
