This sermon is for your spiritual edification and to spread a little hope and cheer. Matthew 7:7-11

It's a rainy day outside. The reason this is nice is because here in California where sunshine is frequent, we have been having a drought and the rain is a welcome sight. It is now rejuvenating the soil so that with the coming Spring will bring forth flowers to bloom, trees to leave, and grasses to bring forth their need to be as green as the fields of Ireland that I have seen so many times in movies.

And with that rebirth of Gods creation, we also see people with a need to seek sanctuary from the wilds of this world. A need that is often unquenched due to the hustle and bustle of the world at large. We don't avoid nature out of a desire to, we just do so because that is the way we are and the way we have been raised.

So many times when I get up in the morning, as I am sure most of you also do, we look forward to the day ahead. And when I say look forward, I don't necessarily mean that we are overjoyed at another Monday, it just means we crowd our minds with fields of green money and not the green of the field. That is because looking at the wonderments of Gods creation does not put food on the table.

This is not to say in any way shape or form that Gods creation is a waste of time. On the contrary, Gods creation is what keeps us going and makes us feel rejuvenated every day, whether we want to admit it to ourselves or not.

What do you think about when you get up on a Monday morning? If it is the winter you may be thinking of wanting to sleep in because it is cold and you feel warm under a nice blanket and bedspread, and the coldness of the day sometimes feels like a the covering from a cold cruel world that spins it's web everyday whether we like it or not.

But that is not to say that we can't make the best of it. We may have a chronic pain or two that hits us like a ton of bricks every morning whether we like it or not, when we get up in the morning. We may loathe the prospects of the day. We may even wonder what the heck we are doing and whether what we do has any real true meaning.

But with God there is a plan for everybody's life. We may not have an inkling as to what that meaning is, but the reason we don't is because we have not spent time with the Lord and asked Him for the true meaning for our life, and then listened to what He has to say.

So what are you waiting for? Why haven't you spent every day praying and asking for Gods love and His guidance? If you have, thank the Lord for your insight and your desire to be with him every day in thought. But if you haven't then you owe it to yourself to seek His guidance and His understanding so you can make Him a part of your life.

God can be a family member. You can seek Him every day to give you shelter from the storm. He can spread His wings and help you be safe. And He can carry you across the sands of time when you need it. But in order for any of this to happen you need to spend time with Him as often as possible.

And when I say "as often as possible" I don't mean a minute here or a minute there once in a while when there is an infrequent time you have to write into your daily scheduler. I mean some real time, set aside, like let's say, a half hour a day to talk with Him and see guidance from Him every day.

If you do this already then Hallelujah, Praise the Lord. If not, then you owe it to yourself to make God a more permanent part of your family. He can give you more than all the money from a job. He can even help you put food on the table. He does this because He loves you and wants what's best for you, even if you have no idea what that best is. He knows and it is best that you seek His guidance as often as possible.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to realize that you can be a part of my family and that your fatherly advice is more important than any other. Let me have the time or schedule some time very day to be with you seeking your guidance and your strength to bring me often out of the doldrums of life and give me your love often. Because without it I am like a lifeless zombie walking around after getting up on a Monday morning without any direction. Thank you for all your many blessings and watch over me this week as I face the world and try to see the beauty that you have permeated my surroundings with. Thank you again, Lord. Amen.

Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen.
