"Laughter"

October 15, 2000
Genesis 21:6-7

We are glad you are here. Messenger Bryan has written this sermon for your spiritual edification and to spread a little hope and cheer each week. Please give us ten minutes of your time to read each sermon and let us know who you are. Thank you for visiting and God Bless.

Why do people always seem to take life so seriously?

I think people these days, take life way too seriously. They see life as this way or that way. They see all the strife and bad things in this world and they think that the devil is hard at work trying to make all of our lives as miserable as possible. To these people I say, "wake up and smell the coffee." I mean really.

Why is it that when we laugh for no apparent reason, that people think we are nuts? Sometimes a thought, coming from our past, trickles into our tired brains and we can't help but laugh, and think of something else and we laugh again. Not because we are crazy, but because we are human.

Genesis 21:6 Sarah said, "God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me." 7 And she added, "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age. NIV

Next time you decide to take life way too seriously, first pray and give your problems to God. He can help you like no one can. And no matter how ridiculous life gets, He will always be there for you, through thick and thin. When life gets crazy ..... pray. When things get really bad and you just want to cry ..... pray. And give all your problems to God, because He is always there for you, and He always will be.

Is there something that you have wanted to try, but you didn't because it was a low priority even though it was a lot of fun? Can you give yourself a break and do something that will bring a little more laughter into your life? You could try a comedy club, or read a silly book. Or watch one of those stupid films you used to like, but can't find the time to go. Go, and let yourself relax.

But most of all pray every day for Gods guidance. Maybe He can figure out how to put a smile on your face, or a little bit of laughter for your heart.

Let Us PrayPrayer: Dear Lord, help us to find time to laugh at ourselves. Let us see the comedy in life and to record it in our minds so that we can pull it out later when we need a good case of the "laughing out the blues" syndrome. Give us your love and help us to spread it to others so that they will come to know the love that you so freely give to all that ask for it. Amen.

Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen.

Hi, my name is Bryan, a messenger of hope to all those who need some cheer in their lives. God Bless.
